Identify, Track, Count and Manage with Portal Track

How to Identify, Track, Count and Manage with PortalTrack

Watch our explainer video to learn how to accurately identify, track, count and manage in-process assets and inventory with PortalTrack RFID software.  We understand that manufacturing inventory management is a real challenge with real problems.  Solving these challenges without disrupting existing workflows is no easy task.

So how do you deploy a customized solution that enables you to identify, track, count and manage your stuff while working in the confines of your present system?

With MSM Solutions PortalTrack RFID software, you can achieve real time visibility to accurately identify what you have, where it is, and how much of it you have within your standard workflow.

PortalTrack is customizable and designed to work within existing process flows as a stand-alone service or one integrated with current ERP and WMS systems.

This solution starts with an identification label and is the first step towards improving supply chain intelligence.

In order to effectively count, manage and track anything, you need to begin with, a unique identity or digital DNA that is assigned to each and every item. Digital DNA is a concept that involves tracking just about any piece of information related to a tagged asset, and capturing that information in the cloud.  In other words, the ID tag comes to represent much more than just the item to which it’s attached.  Beyond simple EPC encoding to manage inventory and automate ordering, digital DNA can contain a multitude of information including when and where the item was first scanned and by whom, all establishing a history and chain of custody for the items.

RFID enables you to assign a unique identifier to every item, case or pallet and consistently update informational elements like location, date/time and quantity with each read.

Once you create the object’s digital DNA, items can be tracked automatically.  Utilizing fixed RFID portals at dock doors and other strategic chokepoints, this technology can independently update counts and locations while identifying any discrepancies as well.

The path that the product follows, from production to retail, provides valuable information in times of Big Data. As a result of this newly obtainable information and with the help of business intelligence or data mining applications, manufacturers can now masterfully handle alternative and variable solutions for just-in-time and just-in-sequence production processes.

With RFID technology, the manufacturer can acquire and utilize a deeper knowledge of their entire operation like production regulation, process optimization and quality control.

Mobile readers enable more accurate and speedier inventory counts, using less labor with the added ability to locate specific items within inches of where they lie.

The RFID reader connects to one or several antennas that send radio frequency signals to the label affixed on the item.  That label information is then instantaneously transmitted via radio frequency back to the antenna, and from the antenna back to the reader. The data is then collected in the cloud for analysis, reporting, and decision making, all in real-time.

PortalTrack delivers customized reporting, facility mapping and real-time alert functions available on any device anywhere to ensure you are always connected.

Asset management solutions are only as effective as the software that powers them. Asset tracking software like PortalTrack focuses on providing the end-to-end benefits you need to be successful in managing your company’s inventory. An array of information is captured at the point of encoding — no additional manual entry is required after that so human error is greatly reduced — and that data is organized automatically.  In the end, you gain unprecedented access to information about your company assets, and you can use that knowledge to optimize your operations.

PortalTrack provides you with the actionable business intelligence and analytics that enables better real-time business decisions, leading to lower labor costs, more accurate inventory, increased sales and customer satisfaction.
